A novel agarolytic bacterium KY-YJ-3, producing extracellular agarase, was isolated from the freshwater sediment of the Sincheon River in Daegu, Korea. On the basis of gram-staining data, morphology, and phylogenetic analysis of the 16S rDNA sequence, the isolate was identified as Cellvibrio sp. By ammonium sulfate precipitation followed by Toyopearl QAE-550C, Toyopearl HW-55F, and Mono-Q column chromatography, the extracellular agarase in the culture fluid could be purified 120.2-fold with…
Cloning and Characterization of a Novel Agarase from a Newly Isolated Bacterium Simiduia sp. Strain TM-2 Able to Degrade Various Seaweeds
A new bacterial strain capable of reducing thalli of various seaweeds (red, green, and brown algae) was isolated from marine sediments of Uozu in Toyama Prefecture, Japan. We designated the strain
Overexpression and Characterization of a Novel Thermostable β-Agarase YM01-3, from Marine Bacterium Catenovulum agarivorans YM01T
TLDR
The present study highlights a thermostable agarase with great potential application value in industrial production, YM01-3, which was cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli and was stable below 50 °C and retained 13% activity after incubation at 80 °C for 1 h, characteristics much different from other agarases.
Cloning of agarase gene from non-marine agarolytic bacterium Cellvibrio sp.
TLDR
LC-MS and NMR analyses revealed production of a neoagarobiose and an neoagarotetraose with a small amount of a Neoagarohexaose during hydrolysis of agarose, indicating that the enzyme is a beta-agarase.
Isolation and characterization of a novel agarase-producing Pseudoalteromonas spp. bacterium from the guts of spiny turban shells.
TLDR
An agar-degrading bacterium was isolated from the guts of spiny turban shells and had extremely strong resistance to ionic stress compared with other known agarases.
Characterization of Agarase from an Isolated Marine Bacterium, Simiduia sp. SH-1
TLDR
Agarase from a novel agar-degrading bacterium isolated from seawater in Namhae at Gyeongsangnam- do province of Korea was characterized and showed 99% similarity with that of bacteria of Simiduia genus and named as SH-1, useful for the industrial production of neoagarotetraose and neo- agarobiose.
Isolation and Culture Properties of a Thermophilic Agarase-Producing Strain, Microbulbifer sp. SD-1
TLDR
An agar-degrading enzyme-producing strain was isolated from seawater and Thin-layer chromatography analysis revealed that this strain could degrade agar into a monosaccharide and oligosACcharide, which may have industrial applications.
Characterization and Application of a Recombinant Exolytic GH50A β-Agarase from Cellvibrio sp. KY-GH-1 for Enzymatic Production of Neoagarobiose from Agarose
TLDR
Results suggest that the recombinant GH50A β-agarase is useful to convert agarose to NA2, indicating that the exolytic digestion of AOS by the enzyme was initiated by releasing A3 from nonreducing ends.
해양성 Marinomonas sp. SH-2 균주가 생성하는 agarase의 분리 및 특성조사
This study aimed to isolate a novel agarase-producing marine bacterium and characterize its agarase, as agarases are known to produce biofunctional agarooligosaccharides or neo-agarooligosaccharides.
Optimization of Pseudoalteromonas sp. JYBCL 1 culture conditions, medium composition and extracellular β-agarase activity
TLDR
The optimum medium composition and culture conditions for the JYBCL 1 strain were determined using the “one factor at a time” (OFAT) method and a Plackett-Burman design.
