Abstract Modifications of several techniques commonly employed for quantitative isolation and partition or ion-exchange chromatographic separation of organic acids were investigated for their suitability in providing Krebs cycle acids for methylation and gas chromatography. Of the systems examined, the one based on the perchlorate/Dowex 1 formate anion-exchange method of Busch et al. (9) was the most satisfactory for the isolation of these acids as a group.
