Abstract Three distinct inorganic pyrophosphatases with different pH optima have been isolated from thoracic muscle mitochondria of the American cockroach. Purification was achieved by sonication, differential centrifugation, ammonium sulphate fractionation, and column chromatography on Sephadex, DEAE † cellulose, and CM cellulose.
