The larvicidal principles of garlic, Allium sativum L.,have been isolated and identified as diallyl disulfide and diallyl trisulfide. Both natural and synthetic samples of these larvicides are fatal at 5 parts per million to Culex pipiens quinquefasciatus Say.

In vitro effect of aqueous extract of garlic (Allium sativum) on the growth and viability of Cryptococcus neoformans.

The antifungal effect of an aqueous extract of garlic was tested against 18 strains of Cryptococcus neoformans, including clinical isolates and laboratory-induced pseudohypha.

The mycelial phase ofHistoplasma capsulatum was inhibited by both the volatile and water soluble components of garlic, Allium sativum L. capsula, and the role of garlic as an eradicent is discussed.

Antifungal activity of propyl disulphide from neem against Lasiodiplodia theobromae and Neofusicoccum parvum causing stem end rot in mango

To investigate the antifungal effect of the neem extract volatile propyl disulphide against the fungal plant pathogens, the concentration of this compound in the solution is controlled by using a high concentration of Na6(CO3)(SO4)2, Na2SO4 and Na2CO3 as raw materials.

Antifungal Property of Garlic (Allium sativum Linn.) in Poultry Feed Substrate

Garlic extract and chips at 3% concentrations inhibited the growth of three test fungi inoculated in poultry feed substrate and the viable spore count per gram of feed treated with garlic was approximately ten to one hundred times less than the control feed samples.

Allium sativum (garlic) inhibits lipid synthesis by Candida albicans

The effect of aqueous garlic extract on the macromolecular synthesis of Candida albicans was studied and blockage of lipid synthesis is likely an important component of the anticandidal activity of garlic.

Garlic and its medicinal potential

The past, present and future potential of garlic and its medicinal merits are presented and the pharmacology of garlic components is discussed.

The activity of some compounds extracts byAllium on stored-product insectsOryzaephilus surinamensis (L.),Sitophilus oryzae (L.) andTribolium castaneum (Herbst)

The data obtained showed significant repellent effect of the thiosulfinates againstS.

Larvicidal activity of Pseudocalymma alliaceum and Allium sativum against Culex quinquefasciatus (Say)

The results indicate that the plant extract component(s) present in the hexane extract of P.“alliaceum and the petroleum ether extract of A.’sativum demonstrated greater potential as an efficient larvicide than P. “alliACEum leaves against C.”quinquefasciatus larvae.
