Abstract We consider the island formula for the entropy of subsets of the Hawking radiation in the adiabatic limit where the black hole evaporation is very slow. We find a simple concrete ‘on-shell’ formula for the generalized entropy which involves the image of the island out in the stream of radiation, the ‘island in the stream’. The resulting recipe for the entropy allows us to calculate the quantum information properties of the radiation and verify various constraints including the Araki…

Quantum extremal islands made easy. Part IV. Massive black holes on the brane
Abstract We study two-dimensional eternal black holes with non-zero mass, where each asymptotic boundary is in contact with a CFT on a circle, following the doubly holographic braneworld models
Ephemeral islands, plunging quantum extremal surfaces and BCFT channels
We consider entanglement entropies of finite spatial intervals in Minkowski radiation baths coupled to the eternal black hole in JT gravity, and the related problem involving free fermion BCFT in the
Bath deformations, islands, and holographic complexity
Considering a doubly holographic model, we study the evolution of holographic subregion complexity corresponding to deformations of bath state by a relevant scalar operator, which corresponds to a
Defect extremal surface for reflected entropy
Abstract Defect extremal surface is defined by extremizing the Ryu-Takayanagi formula corrected by the quantum defect theory. This is interesting when the AdS bulk contains a defect brane (or
Page curve from defect extremal surface and island in higher dimensions
Abstract Defect extremal surface (DES) is defined by minimizing the Ryu-Takayanagi surface corrected by the quantum theory localized on the defect, which is useful when the RT surface crosses or
Grey-body factors, irreversibility and multiple island saddles
Abstract We consider the effect of grey-body factors on the entanglement island prescription for computing the entropy of an arbitrary subset of the Hawking radiation of an evaporating black hole.

The Page curve of Hawking radiation from semiclassical geometry
We consider a gravity theory coupled to matter, where the matter has a higher-dimensional holographic dual. In such a theory, finding quantum extremal surfaces becomes equivalent to finding the
Pulling out the island with modular flow
Recent works have suggested that the entanglement wedge of Hawking radiation coming from an AdS black hole will include an island inside the black hole interior after the Page time. In this paper, we
Evaporating black holes coupled to a thermal bath
We study the doubly holographic model of [1] in the situation where a black hole in two-dimensional JT gravity theory is coupled to an auxiliary bath system at arbitrary finite temperature. Depending
Quantifying islands and Page curves of Reissner-Nordstr\"om black holes for resolving information paradox
We apply the recently proposed quantum extremal surface construction to calculate the Page curve of the eternal Reissner-Nordström black holes in four dimensions. Without the island, the entropy of
Probing Hawking radiation through capacity of entanglement
We consider the capacity of entanglement in models related with the gravitational phase transitions. The capacity is labeled by the replica parameter which plays a similar role to the inverse
Observations of Hawking radiation: the Page curve and baby universes
We reformulate recent insights into black hole information in a manner emphasizing operationally-defined notions of entropy, Lorentz-signature descriptions, and asymptotically flat spacetimes. With
Islands outside the horizon
We consider an AdS$_2$ black hole in equilibrium with a bath, which we take to have a dual description as (0+1)-dimensional quantum mechanical system coupled to a (1+1)-dimensional field theory
Time Dependence of Hawking Radiation Entropy
If a black hole starts in a pure quantum state and evaporates completely by a unitary process, the von Neumann entropy of the Hawking radiation initially increases and then decreases back to zero
Replica wormholes for an evaporating 2D black hole
Quantum extremal islands reproduce the unitary Page curve of an evaporating black hole. This has been derived by including replica wormholes in the gravitational path integral, but for the transient,
Island finder and entropy bound
Identifying an entanglement island requires exquisite control over the entropy of quantum fields, which is available only in toy models. Here we present a set of sufficient conditions that guarantee
