Vascular nephropathies are a steadily increasing cause of end-stage renal failure. Arterionephrosclerosis and arteriolonephrosclerosis are common features in the hypertensive patient. This is especially true for blacks of African descent, in whom hypertension and nephrovasculopathies are a major cause of renal insufficiency.
