Professor Utkin in his discussion paper proposed an example showing that the amplitude of chattering caused by the presence of parasitic dynamics in systems governed by FirstOrder Sliding-Mode Control (FOSMC) is lower than the obtained using Super-Twisting Algorithm (STA).
