The 2-pyridinecarbaldehyde isonicotinoyl hydrazone (HPCIH) family of ligands are typically tridentate N,N,O chelators that exhibit very high in vitro activity in mobilizing intracellular Fe and are promising candidates for the treatment of Fe overload diseases. Complexation of ferrous perchlorate with HPCIH in MeCN solution gives the expected six-coordinate complex Fe(II)(PCIH)(2). However, complexation of Fe(II) with 2-pyridinecarbaldehyde picolinoyl hydrazone (HPCPH, an isomer of HPCIH) under…

Hydrazone chelators for the treatment of iron overload disorders: iron coordination chemistry and biological activity.

An extensive study of the Fe coordination chemistry of the HPCIH analogues including the first crystallographically characterised Fe(II) complex of these chelators, which indicates that their Fe chelation efficacy is due, at least in part, to the fact that these ligands and their Fe( II) complexes are neutral at physiological pH (7.4) and sufficiently lipophilic to permeate cell membranes.

Coordination versatility of tridentate pyridyl aroylhydrazones towards iron: tracking down the elusive aroylhydrazono-based ferric spin-crossover molecular materials.

Several pertinent physical measurements have established that each of the Schiff bases stabilises multiple spin states of iron; the enolate form of these ligands exhibits greater field strength than does the corresponding neutral keto tautomer.

Novel diaroylhydrazine ligands as iron chelators: coordination chemistry and biological activity

Five new members of a series of N-aroyl-N′-picolinoyl hydrazine chelators showed high efficacy at mobilizing 59Fe from cells and inhibiting 59Fe uptake from the serum Fe transport protein, transferrin (Tf).

Halide ion-driven self-assembly of Zn(II) compounds derived from an asymmetrical hydrazone building block: a combined experimental and theoretical study

Three Zn(II) complexes, namely mononuclear derivatives [Zn(H2L)2I2]·2CH3OH (1) and [Zn(H2L)2Br2]·2CH3OH (2) and a tetranuclear cyclic compound [Zn4(H2L)4Cl8]·4CH3OH (3) {H2L = p-hydroxybenzaldehyde

AbstractNew pseudopolymorph of a O,N,N’-donor hydrazone ligand, 2-pyridylcarboxaldehyde isonicotinoylhydrazone (L) and its discrete complexes with K+ and Ba2+ have been reported. L forms

Spiral Dinuclear Complexes of Tetradentate N(4) Diazine Ligands with Mn(II), Fe(II), Fe(III), Co(III), and Ni(II) Salts.

A series of dinuclear complexes of the tetradentate dipyridyl-diazine ligand PAHAP with Mn(II), Fe(II), Fe(III), Co(III), and Ni(II) salts is reported in which three ligands wrap themselves around

Trigonal bipyramidal geometry and tridentate coordination mode of the tripod in FeCl(2) complexes with tris(2-pyridylmethyl)amine derivatives bis-alpha-substituted with bulky groups. structures and spectroscopic comparative studies.

Electric conductivity measurements show that, for all complexes, the measured values lie within the same range, significantly below those expected for ionic complexes, which strongly suggests that the coordination mode of the tripod is retained in solution.

Characterization of the inhibitor complexes of cobalt carboxypeptidase A by electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy.

The metal coordination sphere of cobalt-substituted carboxypeptidase A and its complexes with inhibitors has been characterized by X-band electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy and indicates an approximately axial symmetry of the cobalt atom in a moderately distorted tetrahedral metal environment.

Dimorphic YbPdSn with ZrNiAl and TiNiSi type structure

Two modifications of YbPdSn were prepared from the elements in sealed tantalum tubes at 870 K (α-YbPdSn) and 1400 K (β-YbPdSn). Both structures were refined from single crystal X-ray data: a-YbPdSn
