SUMMARY The current paper aims to determine regional impacts of climate change on Irish farms examining the variation in farm responses. A set of crop growth models were used to determine crop and grass yields under a baseline scenario and a future climate scenario. These crop and grass yields were used along with farm-level data taken from the Irish National Farm Survey in an optimizing farm-level (farm-level linear programming) model, which maximizes farm profits under limiting resources. Pasture diversification to combat climate change impacts on grazing dairy production
Among livestock systems, grazing is likely to be most impacted by climate change because of its dependency to feed quality and availability. In order to reduce the impact of climate change on grazing
An analysis of the financial and environmental impacts of early maturing of heifers on Norwegian dairy farms
This paper explores a management practice that increases average daily weight gain (ADG) in dairy heifers from three months of age until confirmed pregnancy. The practice achieves early maturation of
A Blueprint for a Big Data Analytical Solution to Low Farmer Engagement with Financial Management
As the market environment for farming has become more complicated, the need for farmer engagement in financial management has increased. However, financial management decisions need to consider

An assessment of the potential impact of climate change on grass yield in Ireland over the next 100 years
The impact of climate change on grassland agriculture may affect yield, livestock numbers, winter housing, slurry storage and land spreading, and the production system. The potential change in grass
Potential impacts of climate change on maize production and the introduction of soybean in Ireland
The impact of climate change on agriculture can be assessed by evaluating changes in yield using simulation models. Maize was investigated because it was until recently a semi-marginal crop that is
Climate change impact on agricultural crops and adaptation options in Romania
The aim of this paper is to assess the potential effects of climate change on development, grain yield, and water balance for the main agricultural crops at 5 typical sites located in one of the most
Climate Change and Winter Wheat Management: A Modelling Scenario for South-Eastern England
Crop models are useful tools for assessing the impact of climate change on crop production. The dynamic crop-growth model, CERES-Wheat is used to examine crop management responses, including yield,
The Effect of Decoupling on Farming in Ireland: A Regional Analysis
This paper uses Irish National Farm Survey and Census of Agriculture data to analyse the regional implications of the decoupling of direct payments for farmers in Ireland. A mathematical programming
