Using isolated pulmonary resistance vessels from mature fetal lamb and chronically instrumented lambs (8-17 days old), we have examined whether hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction is sustained by activation of a constrictor mechanism or suppression of a dilator mechanism. 2.
