We analyze the role of investment shocks in a DSGE model of the U.S. economy that we has been previously used to address a wide range of policy and research questions. We highlight a number of issues that affect our assessment of the importance of such shocks and compare our results to previous work. We find a central role for investment shocks of the “intertemporal IS-curve” type; investment-specific technology shocks are important in our model for matching secular trends, but play a less… Expand
