This paper presents puppy mortality and postmortem findings for a birth cohort of boxer puppies born in the Netherlands between January 1994 and March 1995. In all, 457 litters were registered, of which 414 (90.6 per cent) were involved in the study. The 414 litters contained 2629 puppies, a mean litter size of 6.4 puppies. Of the 2629 puppies 571 (21.7 per cent) died or were euthanased before they were weaned at 50 days of age; there were 147 (25.7 per cent) stillbirths; 102 (17.9 per cent…
BIRTH WEIGHT , LITTER SIZE , SEX RATIO AND NEONATAL MORTALITY IN PUREBRED MUDHOL HOUNDS
TLDR
The pups from dogs maintained on homemade diet had significantly lower birth weight with significantly (p<0.05) higher prevalence of neonatal mortality compared to scientific feeding system and the litter size was also smaller in dogs maintained with nutritionally balanced diet.

TLDR
Results indicate that for repeated cases of bacterial infections in neonates diagnostic procedures of milk, vaginal and faecal swabs from bitches result in isolation of the responsible bacteria with a high probability and suggest that preterm treatment could help to control bacterial diseases and losses in pups.
Causes, diagnosis and therapy of common diseases in neonatal puppies in the first days of life: cornerstones of practical approach.
TLDR
From a total of 517 puppies with bacterial infections, the treatment results documented that parenteral administration of amoxicillin/clavulanic acid in 308 neonates showed the best result.
Bodyweight at Birth and Growth Rate during the Neonatal Period in Three Canine Breeds
TLDR
The results suggest that evaluations of bBW and neonatal growth should be performed in a breed-specific manner, and the importance of breed- specific evaluations of birthweight is shown.
Life expectancy in a birth cohort of Boxers followed up from weaning to 10 years of age.
TLDR
Results suggest that cumulative incidence of death from weaning to 10 years of age among this birth cohort of Boxers was 45%, and the estimated heritability of life expectancy suggested that life expectancy can be improved by use of selective breeding.
Review on Dog Neonatal Mortality
The canine neonatal period refers to the first 2–3 weeks of life. After this time, the hepatic and renal drug elimination mechanisms can be expected to approach adult values. Or it is defined as the

Mesenterial torsion in dogs
TLDR
In the period 1984-1991, mesenteric torsion was diagnosed in ten dogs at necroscopy, and was considered as clinical diagnosis in only one dog.
Histological study of the innervation of the suspensory ligament of the forelimb of the horse
TLDR
Results demonstrated that the interosseus muscle is innervated by the deep branch of the lateral palmar nerve which emerges at the level of the midcarpal region and contains fibres from the ulnar and the median nerve.
