FDM process fabricates prototypes by extruding a semi-molten filament through a heated nozzle onto a platform. The semi-molten material solidifies with the neighboring material diffusely after deposition. The bonding quality among ABS filaments in FDM2000 process determines the integrity and mechanical property of resultant prototypes. This paper describes heat transfer analysis of the FDM process. Sintering experiments were carried out to evaluate qualitatively the dynamics of bond formation…

The role of viscoelasticity in polymer sintering

Abstract An experimental study for polymer sintering has been carried out using pairs of powder particles. Although in many cases Newtonian sintering models successfully describe polymer sintering,

Mechanism of sintering between polypropylene beads

Using experimental results obtained by hot-stage light microscopy, the sintering behaviour of off-reactor spherical grades of polypropylene and poly(methyl methacrylate) were considered. Sintering

Melt Rheology and Its Role in Plastics Processing: Theory and Applications

This book is designed to fulfill a dual role. On the one hand it provides a description of the rheological behavior of molten poly mers. On the other, it presents the role of rheology in melt
