We investigate the dependence of stellar population properties of galaxies on group dynamical stage for a subsample of the Yang catalog. We classify groups according to their galaxy velocity distribution into Gaussian (G) and Non-Gaussian (NG). Using two totally independent approaches, we have shown that our measurement of Gaussianity is robust and reliable. Our sample covers Yang’s groups in the redshift range 0.03 z 0.1, with mass . The new method, called Hellinger Distance, to determine…

Investigating the projected phase space of Gaussian and non-Gaussian clusters

By way of the projected phase-space (PPS), we investigate the relation between galaxy properties and cluster environment in a subsample of groups from the Yang Catalog. The sample is split according

The shape of velocity dispersion profiles and the dynamical state of galaxy clusters

Motivated by the existence of the relationship between the dynamical state of clusters and the shape of the velocity dispersion profiles (VDP), we study the VDPs for Gaussian (G) and Non-Gaussian

The influence of the dynamic state of galaxy clusters on segregation phenomena and velocity dispersion profiles

In this work we investigate the influence of the dynamic state of galaxy clusters on segregation effects and velocity dispersion profiles (VDPs) for a sample of 111 clusters extracted from SDSS-DR7.

Classification and evolution of galaxies according to the dynamical state of host clusters and galaxy luminosities

We analyse the dependence of galaxy evolution on cluster dynamical state and galaxy luminosity for a sample of 146 galaxy clusters from the Yang SDSS catalogue. Clusters were split according to

The mass density profile and star formation history of Gaussian and non-Gaussian clusters

This paper is the third of a series in which we investigate the discrimination between Gaussian (G) and Non-Gaussian (NG) clusters, based on the velocity distribution of the member galaxies. We study

The kinematics of cluster galaxies via velocity dispersion profiles

© 2018 The Author(s). We present an analysis of the kinematics of a sample of 14 galaxy clusters via velocity dispersion profiles (VDPs), compiled using cluster parameters defined within the X-Ray

Stellar population properties of ETGs in compact groups of galaxies

We present results on the study of the stellar population in Early-Type galaxies (ETGs) belonging to 151 Compact Groups (CGs). We also selected a field sample composed of 846 ETGs to investigate

The SAMI Galaxy Survey: Quenching of Star Formation in Clusters I. Transition Galaxies

We use integral-field spectroscopy from the SAMI Galaxy Survey to identify galaxies that show evidence of recent quenching of star formation. The galaxies exhibit strong Balmer absorption in the

The impact of galaxy formation on satellite kinematics and redshift-space distortions

Galaxy surveys aim to map the large-scale structure of the Universe and use redshift space distortions to constrain deviations from general relativity and to probe the existence of mas- sive

Morphometric analysis of brightest cluster galaxies

We study the build-up of the stellar mass of brightest cluster galaxies (BCGs) at z < 0.1 as a function of their morphological type. Morphometric parameters for 1216 BCGs were obtained from the

SPIDER – IX. Classifying galaxy groups according to their velocity distribution

We introduce a new method to study the velocity distribution of galaxy systems, the Hellinger Distance (HD) - designed for detecting departures from a Gaussian velocity distribution. We define a

Non-Gaussian velocity distributions — the effect on virial mass estimates of galaxy groups

We present a study of nine galaxy groups with evidence for non-Gaussianity in their velocity distributions out to 4R200. This sample is taken from the 57 groups selected from the 2dF

The Observational Distribution of Internal Velocity Dispersions in Nearby Galaxy Clusters

We analyze the internal velocity dispersion σ of a sample of 172 nearby galaxy clusters (z ≤ 0.15), each of which has at least 30 available galaxy redshifts and spans a large richness range. Cluster

Multimodality in galaxy clusters from SDSS DR8: substructure and velocity distribution

Context. The study of the signatures of multimodality in groups and clusters of galaxies, an environment for most of the galaxies in the Universe, gives us information about the dynamical state of

Galaxy Groups in the SDSS DR4. I. The Catalog and Basic Properties

We use a modified version of the halo-based group finder developed by Yang et al. to select galaxy groups from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS DR4). In the first step, a combination of two methods

The dynamical state of galaxy groups at intermediate redshifts can provide information about the growth of structure in the universe. We examine three goodness-of-fit tests, the Anderson–Darling

The velocity modulation of galaxy properties in and near clusters: quantifying the decrease in star formation in backsplash galaxies

Ongoing or recent star formation in galaxies is known to increase with increasing projected distance from the centre of a cluster out to several times its virial radius (Rv). Using a complete sample

The Bimodal Galaxy Color Distribution: Dependence on Luminosity and Environment

We analyze the u - r color distribution of 24,346 galaxies with Mr ≤ -18 and z < 0.08, drawn from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey first data release, as a function of luminosity and environment. The

Evidence of pre-processing and a dependence on dynamical state for low-mass satellite galaxies

We study the dependence of satellite star formation rate and morphology on group dynamics for a sample of SDSS groups. We classify the group dynamical state and study satellite properties for

The colour of galaxies in distant groups

We present new optical and near-infrared imaging for a sample of 98 spectroscopicallyselected galaxy groups at 0.25 < z < 0.55, most of which have velocity dispersions < 500 km/s. We use
