Trophoblast invasion into the uterine wall is controlled by many factors. Previously, a human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) receptor has been found to be expressed on invasive trophoblast as well as on choriocarcinoma cells implying a possible role for the hormone in trophoblast invasion.
