Intrinsic nerves in the mammalian colon: confirmation of a plexus at the circular muscle-submucosal interface.

Slow waves in the small intestine seem to arise in plexuses of neurites with interstitial cells of Cajal. In the colon, slow waves appear to arise at the circular muscle - submucosal interface.
