Intravenous valproate has been suggested for the treatment of status epilepticus in part because of its relatively good cardiovascular safety profile. We report a case of severe hypotension associated with intravenous valproate used to treat status epilepticus in an 11-year-old girl. Valproate 960 mg (30 mg/kg) was infused over 1 hour.
