BACKGROUND Pulmonary thromboendarterectomy may be a cure for patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) with proximal obstruction. Conversely, short-term prognosis is poor for inoperable CTEPH patients with distal obstruction. Vascular remodeling lesions can be found in lungs of patients with CTEPH.
