ABSTRACT More and more evidence suggests that increases in dopamine (DA) in striata may participate in neurodegenerative processes during acute ischemia, hypoxia, and excitotoxicity. With a rat model of intrastriatal DA injection, we studied the molecular events involved in DA toxicity.
