In this paper we report on current experience and review magnetic resonance safety protocols and literature in order to define practices surrounding MRI‐guided interventional and surgical procedures. Direct experience, the American College of Radiology White paper on MR Safety, and various other sources are summarized. Additional recommendations for interventional and surgical MRI‐guided procedures cover suite location/layout, accessibility, safety policy, personnel training, and MRI…
Design, Operation, and Safety of Single‐Room Interventional MRI Suites: Practical Experience From Two Centers
TLDR
Both the MR‐guided cardiac interventional unit at Kings College London and the intraoperative imaging suite at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery are single‐room interventional facilities incorporating 1.5 T cylindrical‐bore MRI scanners.

TLDR
A framework of safe practice recommendations designed for assessing readiness and optimization of MRI-guided neurosurgical interventions in the diagnostic MRI suite is proposed in an effort to mitigate patient risk.
MR-Guided Interventions and Surgery
This chapter covers the use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for guidance of interventional and operative procedures, including the basics on MRI systems design, integration, workflow principles,
MR systems for MRI‐guided interventions
TLDR
The various systems that research groups and vendors have designed to meet the requirements of interventional MR are discussed and possible solutions to those requirements that have not yet been met are suggested.

TLDR
The experience of designing, developing, and implementing an iMRI in a preexisting space for neurosurgical procedures at a single institution in light of available options and the literature is described to serve as an example for facilities or neuros surgical departments looking to navigate the same process.
Intraoperative and Interventional Magnetic Resonance Imaging: Applications in Spine Surgery
TLDR
An overview of both the current and the theoretical applications of intraoperative/interventional MRI for spinal surgery is provided.

Biopsy needle susceptibility artifacts
TLDR
Computer simulations of the image distortion resulting from magnetic susceptibility differences between a needle and the surrounding tissue show not only an artifact size that is dependent on needle composition, orientation, and pulse sequence, but also a corresponding shift of the artifact center away from the actual center of the needle.
