Intramural gradients of intracellular Ca(2+) (Ca(i)(2+)) Ca(i)(2+) handling, Ca(i)(2+) oscillations, and Ca(i)(2+) transient (CaT) alternans may be important in long-duration ventricular fibrillation (LDVF).
