During stimulation of Dictyostelium discoideum amoebae with the chemoattractant cAMP, extracellular calcium is taken up by the cells. The aim of this study was to determine the cytosolic free calcium concentration ([Ca++]i) during chemotaxis of Dictyostelium cells.
