IN two recent papers1,2, I presented evidence that intracellular freezing occurs in insects when freezing follows supercooling of at least several degrees. Visual and mechanical detection of crystallization or solidity within the large fat body and labial gland cells of two species of larval insects formed the core of this evidence.
