Warning on False or True Morels and Button Mushrooms with Potential Toxicity Linked to Hydrazinic Toxins: An Update

A safety measure is to avoid consuming any true morels or button mushrooms when crude or poorly cooked, fresh or dried, and to suggest that Verpa bohemica, another false morel, is also inedible.

Gymnopeptides A and B, Cyclic Octadecapeptides from the Mushroom Gymnopus fusipes.

The two compounds, named as gymnopeptides A and B, are unprecedented highly N-methylated cyclic octadecapeptides, which exhibited striking antiproliferative activity on several human cancer cell lines, with nanomolar IC50 values.

Ingestive and inhalative allergy to the mushroom Boletus edulis

The two patients with strong anaphylactic reactions demonstrate that Be may have great allergenic potential, and it is noteworthy that not only can Basidiomycetes cause airborne allergy but also that edible mushrooms from this class can cause inhalative and intestinal allergy.

Low trehalase activity is associated with abdominal symptoms caused by edible mushrooms.

It is obvious that trehalose maldigestion can cause symptoms similar to those of lactose m Maldigestions and intolerance.

Intestinal trehalase activity in a UK population: establishing a normal range and the effect of disease

The normal range and very low incidence of isolated enzyme deficiency is comparable with that described in populations from the USA and mainland Europe and there should be no concern over the introduction of trehalose-containing dried foods.

Suspected Myotoxicity of Edible Wild Mushrooms

The results support the hypothesis that the previously observed toxic effects are not specific to T. flavovirens, but probably represent an unspecific response requiring individual sensitivity and a significant amount of ingested mushroom to manifest itself.

Eosinophilia and gastrointestinal symptoms after ingestion of shiitake mushrooms.

Stability of agaritine - a natural toxicant of Agaricus mushrooms

The importance of the degradation when performing toxicological studies with agaritine is discussed, and four or possibly five ultraviolet-absorbing compounds were formed during degradation, but these have not yet been identified.

Food allergy to Boletus edulis.
