The two compounds, named as gymnopeptides A and B, are unprecedented highly N-methylated cyclic octadecapeptides, which exhibited striking antiproliferative activity on several human cancer cell lines, with nanomolar IC50 values.

The two patients with strong anaphylactic reactions demonstrate that Be may have great allergenic potential, and it is noteworthy that not only can Basidiomycetes cause airborne allergy but also that edible mushrooms from this class can cause inhalative and intestinal allergy.

The normal range and very low incidence of isolated enzyme deficiency is comparable with that described in populations from the USA and mainland Europe and there should be no concern over the introduction of trehalose-containing dried foods.

The importance of the degradation when performing toxicological studies with agaritine is discussed, and four or possibly five ultraviolet-absorbing compounds were formed during degradation, but these have not yet been identified.
