BACKGROUND Interstitial lung disease (ILD) includes a diverse group of respiratory conditions characterised by inflammation and fibrosis of the interstitium. Worsening hypoxia and respiratory failure may develop with disease progression. Disease behaviour and treatment responsiveness vary widely depending on the underlying aetiology.
