One of common problems in free-form surface modeling is how to smoothly interpolate a given curve network. In ship design, ship hullform is usually designed with a curve network, and hullform surfaces are generated by filling in (or interpolating) the curve network. Tensor-product surfaces such as NURBS and Bézier patches are typical representations to this interpolating problem.
