Non-inflammatory cystic lesions of the pancreas are increasingly recognized. Two distinct entities have been defined, i.e., intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN) and mucinous cystic neoplasm (MCN). Ovarian-type stroma has been proposed as a requisite to distinguish MCN from IPMN.
