This paper proposes a general five-step framework for obtaining system indices for voltage sag performance. The framework is used to describe existing standards and ongoing work in standard-setting organizations (IEC, IEEE, CIGRE). Using the framework it becomes clear where the missing links are towards system-wide performance indices for voltage sags. The paper also gives an overview of voltage-sag objectives and the future work needed
