ONCE we lived in the light, lived outside our body, inhabited the external world. No longer does spirit possess the earth. Exiled, we live inside, and above. We have withdrawn from the sunlight, we have drawn our gaze inside, and have become a thinker, a little man inside the outer man, an inner life which confronts an inhuman exteriority. How can we regain our native habitat? How can we again enjoy the world which thought has objectified?
