The role of the urokinase receptor (uPAR) in the internalization of the urokinase-plasminogen activator inhibitor type-1 (uPA.PAI-1) complex has been investigated. First, exploiting the species specificity of uPA binding, we show that mouse LB6 cells (that express a mouse uPAR) were unable to bind or degrade the human uPA.PAI-1 complex.
