In this study, we numerically investigate the internal structure of localized quantum turbulence in superfluid He at zero temperature with the expectation of self-similarity in the real space. In our previous study, we collected the statistics of vortex rings emitted from a localized vortex tangle. As a result, the power law between the minimum size of detectable vortex rings and the emission frequency is obtained, which suggests that the vortex tangle has self-similarity in the real space…

Decaying Kolmogorov turbulence in a model of superflow

Superfluid turbulence is studied using numerical simulations of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation (NLSE), which is the correct equation of motion for superflows at low temperatures. This equation

Vortex Emission from Quantum Turbulence Generated by Vibrating Wire in Superfluid $$^4\hbox {He}$$4He

To investigate the formation of quantum turbulence in superfluid $$^4\hbox {He}$$4He, we have studied the vortex emission from a turbulence region generated by a vibrating wire. The time of flight of

Vortex Line Density Fluctuations of Quantum Turbulence

We investigate vortex line density fluctuations of quantum turbulence generated by an oscillating grid in superfluid 3He-B. The scenario of quantum turbulence experimentally suggested by the

Numerical Studies of Quantum Turbulence

We review numerical studies of quantum turbulence. Quantum turbulence is currently one of the most important problems in low temperature physics and is actively studied for superfluid helium and

We investigate flows of helium IV driven by two counter-rotating disks, in a range of temperatures varying between 1.4 and 2.3 K. The local pressure fluctuations obtained on a small total-head tube

The Transition to Turbulent Drag for a Cylinder Oscillating in Superfluid 4He: A Comparison of Quantum and Classical Behavior

We have measured the drag and inertial forces on wire resonators in superfluid 4He at millikelvin temperatures. At low velocities the behavior is dominated by the intrinsic properties of the

Transition to Turbulence for a Quartz Tuning Fork in Superfluid 4He

We have studied the resonance of a commercial quartz tuning fork immersed in superfluid 4He, at temperatures between 5 mK and 1 K, and at pressures between zero and 25 bar. The force-velocity curves

An apparatus is described for detecting single quanta of superfluid circulation round a fine wire in liquid helium II. The wire is stretched down the centre of a cylindrical vessel containing helium,

History Dependence of Turbulence Generated by a Vibrating Wire in Superfluid 4He at 1.5 K

We report on the onset of turbulence in normal and superfluid 4He using several 13.5 μm diameter vibrating wire resonators placed in a cell, filtered from the surrounding helium bath. We measured the
