Internal and External Dose Assessment
@inproceedings{Katani2013InternalAE, title={Internal and External Dose Assessment}, author={Parviz Katani}, year={2013} }
Dose assessment is a comprehensive analysis of the exposure received by individuals in the vicinity of facilities that release contaminants to the environment (i.e., real doses to real people). Performing dose assessment analyses which are extremely important elements for improving efficiency in radiological emergencies and accidents have been studied in this paper. For dose assessment purposes, the organ doses from internal and external sources are used to evaluate the risk of stochastic…

ASSESSMENT OF TC-99M MDP ABSORBED DOSE AND RESIDENCE TIME AFTER BONE SCAN EXAMINATION: PERSONAL DOSIMETER MEASUREMENTS AND SEMI-EMPIRICAL FORMULA FOR 210 PATIENTS IN TAIWAN
- MedicineJournal of Mechanics in Medicine and Biology

The absorbed dose for patients who underwent Tc-99m Methylene Diphosphonates bone scan examination based on a series of personal dosimeter measurements and a derived semi-empirical formula was lower than those obtained in previous studies, which can be attributed to accelerated radionuclide excretion of patients who drank 2000 cc of water after the procedure, yielding shorter residence times.

According to the current results, the roof and the paved area contribute the most part (∼92%) to the total dose in the first year taking into account the relative contamination of the deposition areas, but the ratio will increasingly be shifted in favor of the roof.
