Hans Breder is a prolific artist who has worked in virtually all media: drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, photography, performance, and video. He was born in Herford, Germany in 1935 and studied at the Hochschule fur Bildende Kunste in Hamburg, Germany from 1959 to 1964 before moving to New York in 1964 with a fellowship of the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes, where he became an assistant to the sculptor George Rickey.
