Emerging data indicate that interferon‐induced transmembrane protein 1 (IFITM1) plays an important role in many cancers. However, it remains unclear whether IFITM1 is functionally indispensable in nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Here, using NSCLC cell lines and patient‐derived samples, we show that IFITM1 is essentially required for the progression of NSCLC in vitro and in vivo. Specifically, IFITM1 depletion resulted in a significant reduction in sphere formation, migration, and invasion of…
Knockdown of interferon-induced transmembrane protein 1 inhibited proliferation, induced cell cycle arrest and apoptosis, and suppressed MAPK signaling pathway in pancreatic cancer cells
TLDR
Findings suggested that IFITM1 could be considered a potential therapeutic target for PC, and inhibited the proliferation of pancreatic cancer cells, decreased the number of cells, induced cell apoptosis, and suppressed the MAPK signaling pathway.
miR 551 b Regulates Colorectal Cancer Progression by Targeting the ZEB 1 Signaling Axis
TLDR
It is indicated that miR551b could serve as a potential diagnostic biomarker and could be utilized to improve the therapeutic outcomes of CRC patients and ZEB1 was associated with the disease progression in CRC patients.
Interferon-Induced Transmembrane Protein 1 (IFITM1) Promotes Distant Metastasis of Small Cell Lung Cancer
TLDR
It is demonstrated that IFITM1 promotes distant metastasis in xenograft models of human SCLC and overexpression in DMS273 cells increased their metastatic formation in the orthotopic model and in an experimental metastasis model.
miR551b Regulates Colorectal Cancer Progression by Targeting the ZEB1 Signaling Axis
TLDR
It is indicated that miR551b could serve as a potential diagnostic biomarker and could be utilized to improve the therapeutic outcomes of CRC patients and ZEB1 was associated with the disease progression in CRC patients.
Deciphering the Roles of IFITM1 in Tumors
TLDR
The role of IFITM1 in cancer in detail is deciphered and targeting IFITm1 may provide a novel strategy for cancer treatment and be highly desirable to improve cancer patient outcomes.
Identification of IFN-Induced Transmembrane Protein 1 With Prognostic Value in Pancreatic Cancer Using Network Module-Based Analysis
TLDR
Findings suggested that IFITM1 might have promising utility for pancreatic cancer, which is one of the independent prognostic factors for overall survival.
The Therapeutic Potential of Adipose Tissue-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells to Enhance Radiotherapy Effects on Hepatocellular Carcinoma
TLDR
It is shown that AT-MSCs could enhance inhibitory effect of RT on reducing HCC cell growth, migration and invasion in both in vitro and in vivo experiments, and a noticeable interferon-induced transmembrane 1 (IFITM1)-induced tumor gene signature is revealed.
Development of an Oncogenic Driver Alteration Associated Immune-Related Prognostic Model for Stage I-II Lung Adenocarcinoma
TLDR
The Cox-proportional Hazards Analysis based on the L1-penalized (LASSO) Analysis was performed to establish a novel IPM that could provide new biomarkers for risk stratification of stage I-II LUAD patients.

Knockdown of interferon-induced transmembrane protein 1 (IFITM1) inhibits proliferation, migration, and invasion of glioma cells
Interferon-induced transmembrane protein 1 (IFITM1) has recently been identified as a new molecular marker in human colorectal cancer. However, its role in glioma carcinogenesis is not known. In this
SOX2 expression is associated with a cancer stem cell state and down-regulation of CDX2 in colorectal cancer
TLDR
It is indicated that SOX2 expression induces a cellular stem cell state in human CRC with a decreased expression of CDX2, and at least part of the prognostic importance of SoX2 is mediated throughCDX2 down-regulation.
Mechanisms that link the oncogenic epithelial–mesenchymal transition to suppression of anoikis
TLDR
The mechanistic coupling between EMT and resistance to anoikis is reviewed, and unifying principles that will lead to improvements in cancer therapy by reprogramming sensitivity of anoIKis are identified.
SOX2 in squamous cell carcinoma: Amplifying a pleiotropic oncogene along carcinogenesis
TLDR
Two studies used a similar strategy of chromosomal aberrations screening to identify the SOX2 locus as one of the most frequently amplified site over the SCC genome and showed thatSOX2 is also involved in the early steps of lung SCC, as participating to transform human bronchial epithelial cells.
SOX2 has a crucial role in the lineage determination and proliferation of mesenchymal stem cells through Dickkopf-1 and c-MYC
TLDR
This study shows that SOX2 directly regulates DKK1 expression and, as a consequence, determines the differentiation lineage of hMSCs, a type of ASCs, and regulates proliferation by affecting c-MYC.
