A single-user receiver structure is proposed for space-time coded code-division multiple-access (CDMA) downlink in a multiuser frequency-selective channel. This structure is a two-dimensional (2-D) decision-feedback equalizer (2D-DFE) whose filters are optimized based on the MMSE criterion to mitigate noise, intersymbol interference (ISI), and multiuser interference (MUI) with a moderate complexity.
