Abstract. During recent years, Germany's national meteorological service (Deutscher Wetterdienst, DWD) has significantly expanded the open access to its climate observations. A first step was a simple FTP-site with the possibility for downloading archives with various categories of data, e.g. national and international station-based meteorological data, derived parameters, gridded products and special categories as e.g. phenological data. The data are based on the observing systems of DWD for…
FAIR: a project to realize a user-friendly exchange of open weather data
TLDR
The deduced technical architecture and FAIR services aiming at a user-friendly exchange of weather data are presented, which aim at simplifying the information exchange between the DWD and economical players.
Regional atmospheric reanalysis activities at Deutscher Wetterdienst: review of evaluation results and application examples with a focus on renewable energy
Abstract. Based on the numerical weather prediction model COSMO of Germany's national meteorological service (Deutscher Wetterdienst, DWD), regional reanalysis datasets have been developed with grid
Comparison of manual and automatic daily sunshine duration measurements at German climate reference stations
TLDR
To prevent breaks in long time series of daily sunshine duration, a linear regression model is suggested based on parallel measurements from 13 climate reference stations in Germany and a robust data set is indicated for the estimation of the linear model.
