ATP-binding cassette (ABC)-transporters, such as P-glycoprotein (P-gp/ABCB1), multidrug resistance-associated proteins (MRPs/ABCCs) and breast cancer resistance protein (BCRP/ABCG2) transport numerous drugs thus regulating their absorption, distribution and excretion.
