Stable colloidal suspension of magnetic nanoparticles is challenging owing to both van der Waals forces and magnetic dipolar interactions. Thus, it is essential to coat magnetic nanoparticles with a surfactant during chemical synthesis in order to prepare well-dispersed nanoparticle colloid.
