Interaction between IIIGlc of the phosphoenolpyruvate:sugar phosphotransferase system and glycerol kinase of Salmonella typhimurium.

Abstract

Purified IIIGlc of the phosphoenolpyruvate:sugar phosphotransferase system of Salmonella typhimurium inhibits glycerol kinase. Phosphorylation of IIIGlc via phosphoenolpyruvate, enzyme I, and HPr abolishes this inhibition. The glycerol facilitator is not inhibited by IIIGlc. It is proposed that regulation of glycerol metabolism by the phosphoenolpyruvate… (More)
