Human machine interface particularly with Expert Systems differs significantly from the problems that have been addressed with interfaces to other types of systems. The commonality of all the systems, including Expert Systems, is the domain selection. The domain selection is the critical part in the Expert System interface. A large number of training examples are used with domain specific knowledge to guide generalization. The approach requires a number of training examples, domain theory, a definition of the concept under study and a description of the form in which the learned concept must be expressed.
