An approach is proposed for modeling and analyzing concurrent systems that integrates different views (abstract vs. concrete) as well as different aspects (functional vs. performance) of their behavior. The approach is based on a stochastic process algebra, a formalism for specifying and studying concurrent systems that is characterized by the property of compositionality.
