Interpreting an utterance sometimes depends on the presence and nature of non-linguistic actions. In this paper, we motivate and develop a semantic model of embodied interaction in which the contribution that non-linguistic events make to the content of the interaction is dependent on their rhetorical connections to other actions, both linguistic and non-linguistic.
