Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of major causes of irregular menstruation. It is defined as a condition involving the combination of hyperandrogenism and chronic oligomenorrhea or anovulation, and is thought to have a variety of etiologies. Insulin resistance (impaired insulin sensitivity) has been suggested to be one of the etiologies of PCOS. PCOS patients often need to take medication to treat anovulation and infertility. Therefore, it would be beneficial to patients if simple non…

Genetic polymorphisms of melatonin receptors 1A and 1B may result in disordered lipid metabolism in obese patients with polycystic ovary syndrome
TLDR
It is found that MTNR1A rs2119882 andMTNR1B rs10830963 could increase the risk for PCOS and cause glycolipid metabolism disorder in PCOS patients.
New Therapeutic Approaches in Obesity and Metabolic Syndrome Associated with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
TLDR
More research is needed to reveal the clinical complexity of PCOS and develop more effective treatment options, and new hypotheses and emerging studies are highlighted to give a picture of the latest therapeutic trends in the treatment of obese patients with PCOS.
Effect of Apple Cider Vinegar on Glycemic Control, Hyperlipidemia and Control on Body Weight in Type 2 Diabetes Patients
TLDR
The aim of the review was to elevate the effect of apple cider vinegar on glycemic control, hyperlipidemia and obesity control in type 2 diabetes patients and other therapeutic and commercial effect of Apple cider vinegar.
Effect and mechanisms of action of vinegar on glucose metabolism, lipid profile, and body weight.
TLDR
Although some evidence supports the use of vinegar as a complementary treatment in patients with glucose and lipid abnormalities, further large-scale long-term trials with impeccable methodology are warranted before definitive health claims can be made.
Vinegar Functions on Health: Constituents, Sources, and Formation Mechanisms.
TLDR
Considering the discovering of various functional ingredients and clarifying their mechanisms, some vinegars could be functional foods or even medicines, depending on a number of proofs that demonstrate these constituents can cure chronic diseases such as diabetes or cardiovascular problems.
The Effect of Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) as an Antifungal in a Diabetic Patient (Type II Diabetes ) with Intraoral Candidosis (A Case Report)
TLDR
The Effect of Apple Cider Vinegar as an Antifungal in a Diabetic Patient (Type II Diabetes ) with Intraoral Candidosis with Implications for Gastroenterology and Dentistry is studied.
Physiology of Acetic Acid Bacteria and Their Role in Vinegar and Fermented Beverages.
TLDR
A comprehensive review of the physiology of AAB is presented, with particular emphasis on their importance in the production of vinegar and fermentation, and particular reference is addressed toward Gluconobacter oxydans due to its biotechnological applications.

Evidence-based and potential benefits of metformin in the polycystic ovary syndrome: a comprehensive review.
TLDR
The uses of metformin are analyzed not only for the treatment of all PCOS-related disturbances such as menstrual disorders, anovulatory infertility, increased abortion, or complicated pregnancy risk, hyperandrogenism, endometrial, metabolic and cardiovascular abnormalities, but also for the prevention of the syndrome.
WITHDRAWN: Insulin-sensitising drugs for polycystic ovary syndrome.
TLDR
The use of metformin in improvement of reproductive outcomes or in reducing the risk of developing metabolic syndrome in women with PCOS appears to be limited, and met formin does not improve live birth whether it is used alone or in combination with clomiphene.
A survey of the polycystic ovary syndrome in the Greek island of Lesbos: hormonal and metabolic profile.
TLDR
Polycystic ovary syndrome appears to be a particularly common endocrine disorder in the Greek population under study and it is associated with certain metabolic abnormalities, suggesting that the severity of the fasting hyperinsulinemia isassociated with the severity with the clinical phenotype of hyperandrogenism independently of obesity.
Ovarian steroids modulate neuroendocrine dysfunction in polycystic ovary syndrome
TLDR
It was concluded that uncoupling of hypothalamic E2 inhibition by elevated ovarian A4 associated with E2 related sensitization of pituitary LH leads to neuroendocrine dysfunction in PCOS.
Oxidative status and its relation with insulin resistance in young non-obese women with polycystic ovary syndrome
TLDR
Oxidative stress characterized by increased oxidants and decreased antioxidant levels which are independent of IR may be involved in the pathogenesis of PCOS in young non-obese women.
Metformin effects on clinical features, endocrine and metabolic profiles, and insulin sensitivity in polycystic ovary syndrome: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled 6-month trial, followed by open, long-term clinical evaluation.
TLDR
In women with PCOS metformin treatment reduced hyperinsulinemia and hyperandrogenemia, independently of changes in body weight, and logistic regression analysis of baseline characteristics showed that plasma insulin, serum androstenedione, and menstrual history were independent predictors of the treatment's clinical efficacy.
Insulin resistance and polycystic ovarian syndrome.
TLDR
Experimental data indicate that insulin could interfere with the local insulin-like growth factor systems in ovaries, and presumably in adrenals and in the hypothalamic pituitary system, and the female puberty system offers a physiological model to explain the gonadotropic action of insulin.
Androgen response to endogenous insulin secretion during the frequently sampled intravenous glucose tolerance test in normal and hyperandrogenic women.
TLDR
Findings confirm the weight-independent insulin resistance of some hyperandrogenic women and suggest the failure of glucose-stimulated endogenous insulin secretion to significantly depress DHEA levels in insulin-resistant women with PCOS may account in part for their androgen excess.
