In five spacetime dimensions, instantons are finite energy, solitonic particles. We describe the dynamics of these objects in the presence of a Chern-Simons interaction. For U(N) instantons, we show that the 5d Chern-Simons term induces a corresponding Chern-Simons term in the ADHM quantum mechanics. For SU(N) instantons, we provide a description in terms of geodesic motion on the instanton moduli space, modified by the presence of a magnetic field. We show that this magnetic field is equal to…

ADHM and the 4d quantum Hall effect

A bstractYang-Mills instantons are solitonic particles in d = 4 + 1 dimensional gauge theories. We construct and analyse the quantum Hall states that arise when these particles are restricted to the

Dynamics of Chern-Simons vortices

We study vortex dynamics in three-dimensional theories with Chern-Simons interactions. The dynamics is governed by motion on the moduli space M in the presence of a magnetic field. For Abelian

Dyonic Instantons in 5-dim Yang-Mills Chern-Simons Theories

We consider the BPS dyonic instantons in the 5-dim supersymmetric Yang-Mills Chern-Simons theories. Its field theoretic structures and the moduli space dynamics in term of the ADHM data have been

A 5d/3d duality from relativistic integrable system

A bstractWe propose and prove a new exact duality between the F-terms of supersymmetric gauge theories in five and three dimensions with adjoint matter fields. The theories are compactified on a

Rigid limit for hypermultiplets and five-dimensional gauge theories

A bstractWe study the rigid limit of a class of hypermultiplet moduli spaces appearing in Calabi-Yau compactifications of type IIB string theory, which is induced by a local limit of the Calabi-Yau.

5-dim superconformal index with enhanced En global symmetry

A bstractThe five-dimensional $ \mathcal{N}=1 $ supersymmetric gauge theory with Sp(N) gauge group and SO(2Nf) flavor symmetry describes the physics on N D4-branes with Nf D8-branes on top of a

Supersymmetric Rényi entropy and defect operators

A bstractWe describe the defect operator interpretation of the supersymmetric Rényi entropies of superconformal field theories in three, four and five dimensions. The operators involved are

Long-distance properties of baryons in the Sakai-Sugimoto model

We reconsider the realization of baryons in the Sakai-Sugimoto model. In this theory, which is the gravity dual of a QCD-like theory, baryons appear as soliton solutions. These solitons were

A note on D0-branes and instantons in 5d supersymmetric gauge theories

A bstractWe refine a previous proposal for obtaining the multi-instanton partition function from the supersymmetric index of the 1d supersymmetric gauge theory on the worldline of D0-branes. We

Baryons and the Chern-Simons Term in Holographic QCD with Three Flavors

We study dynamical baryons in the holographic QCD model of Sakai and Sugimoto in the case of three flavors, with special interest in the construction of the Chern-Simons (CS) term. The baryon

Five-dimensional Chern-Simons terms and Nekrasov's instanton counting

We extend the graviphoton-corrected prepotential of 5D pure U(N) super Yang-Mills, which was originally proposed by Nekrasov, by incorporating the effect of the 5D Chern-Simons term. This extension

The Geometry of Dyonic Instantons in 5-dimensional Supergravity

We systematically construct and study smooth supersymmetric solutions in 5 dimensional N=1 Yang-Mills-Einstein supergravity. Our solution is based on the ADHM construction of (dyonic)

Baryons from instantons in holographic QCD

We consider aspects of dynamical baryons in a holographic dual of QCD that is formulated on the basis of a D4/D8-brane configuration. We construct a soliton solution carrying a unit baryon number and

Instantons on Noncommutative ℝ4, and (2,0) Superconformal Six Dimensional Theory

Abstract:We show that the resolution of moduli space of ideal instantons parameterizes the instantons on noncommutative ℝ4. This moduli space appears to be the Higgs branch of the theory of

Chiral Dynamics of Baryons from String Theory

We study baryons in a holographic model of QCD by Sakai and Sugimoto, realized as small instantons with fundamental string hairs. We introduce an effective field theory of the baryons in the

We analyze static properties of nucleons in the two flavor holographic QCD model of Sakai and Sugimoto described effectively by a five-dimensional U(2) Yang-Mills theory with the Chern-Simons term on
