The exotic Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) states have been actively searched for experimentally since the mean-field based FFLO theories were put forward half a century ago. Here, we investigate the stability of FFLO states in the presence of pairing fluctuations. We conclude that FFLO superfluids cannot exist in continuum in three and two dimensions, due to their intrinsic instability, associated with infinite quantum degeneracy of the pairs. These results address the absence of…

This work investigates the influence of a dimensional crossover (from one dimension (1D) to two dimensions (2D) or three dimensions (3D)) on the stability of the FFLO state in the spin-imbalanced attractive Hubbard model.
Fulde-Ferrell states in unequally charged Fermi gases
Atoms with different internal states can exhibit different responses to an artificial magnetic field. An atomic gas mixture of two different components can therefore be interpreted as a mixture of
Intersubband pairing induced Fulde-Ferrell phase in metallic nanofilms
We consider a free-standing metallic nanofilm with a predominant intersubband paring which emerges as a result of the confinement in the growth direction. We show that the Fermi wave vector mismatch
Nonequilibrium strong-coupling theory for a driven-dissipative ultracold Fermi gas in the BCS-BEC crossover region
We theoretically investigate strong-coupling properties of an ultracold Fermi gas in the BCS-BEC crossover regime in the non-equilibrium steady state, being coupled with two fermion baths. By
Imbalanced Fermi systems and exotic superconducting phases
Quantum many body phases, in competition or coexistence has always been a fascinating area of research in condensed matter physics. One of the most widely investigated scenario of phase competition
New orientations of the Cooper pair momentum in FFLO state for asymmetric D-wave fermion superfluids
The Fulde–Ferrell–Larkin–Ovchinnikov (FFLO) state in asymmetric D-wave fermion superfluids is investigated generally. The angle dependence of the pairing gap (angle-dependent gap) for D-wave is also
Damping of the Anderson-Bogolyubov mode in Fermi mixtures by spin and mass imbalance
We study the temporally nonlocal contributions to the gradient expansion of the pair fluctuation propagator for spinand mass-imbalanced Fermi mixtures. These terms are related to the damping
Polarized fermions in one dimension: Density and polarization from complex Langevin calculations, perturbation theory, and the virial expansion
We calculate the finite-temperature density and polarization equations of state of one-dimensional fermions with a zero-range interaction, considering both attractive and repulsive regimes. In the

Quantum Lifshitz points and fluctuation-induced first-order phase transitions in imbalanced Fermi mixtures
We perform a detailed analysis of the phase transition between the uniform superfluid and normal phases in spin- and mass-imbalanced Fermi mixtures. At mean-field level we demonstrate that at

Stable Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov pairing states in two-dimensional and three-dimensional optical lattices
We present the study of the Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) pairing states in the p-orbital bands in both two- and three-dimensional optical lattices. Due to the quasi-one-dimensional band
Phase diagram and spectroscopy of Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov states of two-dimensional d -wave superconductors
Experimental evidence suggests that the Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) state may be realized in the unconventional, heavy-fermion superconductor CeCoIn$_5$. We present a self-consistent
Stability of Fulde–Ferrell–Larkin–Ovchinnikov state in type-II superconductors against the phase fluctuations
Abstract Phase fluctuations of the order parameters are studied in type-II superconductors in the limit of strong spin magnetism on the basis of a generalized Ginzburg–Landau Hamiltonian, where
Neutral Larkin-Ovchinnikov-Fulde-Ferrell state and chromomagnetic instability in two-flavor dense QCD.
It is found that because the neutral LOFF state itself suffers from a chromomagnetic instability in the whole region where it coexists with the (gapped or gapless) two-flavor superconducting phases, it cannot cure this instability in those phases.
Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov critical polarization in one-dimensional fermionic optical lattices
We deduce an expression for the critical polarization ${P}_{C}$ below which the Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov state emerges in one-dimensional lattices with spin-imbalanced populations. We provide
Enhancement effect of mass imbalance on Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov type of pairing in Fermi-Fermi mixtures of ultracold quantum gases
This work explores possible effects of mass imbalance, mainly in a 6Li–40K mixture, on the one-plane-wave FFLO phases for a 3D homogeneous case at the mean-field level, and presents various phase diagrams related to the F FLO states at both zero and finite temperatures, throughout the BCS-BEC crossover.
Structure of the Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov State in Two-Dimensional Superconductors
Nonuniform superconducting state due to strong spin magnetism is studied in two-dimensional (2D) type-II superconductors near the second order phase transition line between the normal and

We address an imbalanced two-component atomic Fermi gas restricted by a one-dimensional (1D) optical lattice and an external harmonic potential, within the mean-field Bogoliubov-de Gennes formalism.
Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov pairing in one-dimensional optical lattices
Spin-polarized attractive Fermi gases in one-dimensional (1D) optical lattices are expected to be remarkably good candidates for the observation of the Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) phase.
