We study the (in)stability around the dynamical gap solution of the $U(N)$ Chern-Simons gauge theory with fundamental fermions (massless or massive) coupled in $D=3$ at large $N$. Explicit analyses on both the Auxiliary-Field (AF) and the Cornwall-Jackiw-Tomboulis (CJT) effective potentials are given. In both approaches we manage to analytically identify the saddle-point instability around the gap solution. We also give a comparison with the QCD-like theories. This study can help understanding…

The massive fermion phase for the U(N) Chern-Simons gauge theory in D=3 at large N
A bstractWe explore the phase structure of fermions in the U(N) Chern-Simons Gauge theory in three dimensions using the large N limit where N is the number of colors and the fermions are taken to be
Correlators of large N fermionic Chern-Simons vector models
A bstractWe consider the large N limit of three-dimensional U(N)k Chern-Simons theory coupled to a Dirac fermion in the fundamental representation. In this limit, we compute several correlators to

A bstractWe compute the thermal free energy in large N U(N) Chern-Simons-matter theories with matter fields (scalars and/or fermions) in the fundamental representation, in the large temperature
Correlation functions of large N Chern-Simons-Matter theories and bosonization in three dimensions
A bstractWe consider the conformal field theory of N complex massless scalars in 2 + 1 dimensions, coupled to a U(N) Chern-Simons theory at level k. This theory has a ’t Hooft large N limit, keeping
Spontaneous breaking of scale invariance in a D = 3 U(N ) model with Chern-Simons gauge fields
A bstractWe study spontaneous breaking of scale invariance in the large N limit of three dimensional U(N )κ Chern-Simons theories coupled to a scalar field in the fundamental representation. When a

We study three-dimensional conformal field theories described by U(N) Chern–Simons theory at level k coupled to massless fermions in the fundamental representation. By solving a Schwinger–Dyson
Breaking conformal invariance — Large N Chern-Simons theory coupled to massive fundamental fermions
A bstractWe analyze the theory of massive fermions in the fundamental representation coupled to a U(N) Chern-Simons gauge theory at level K. It is done in the large N, large K limits where λ = $
3D field theories with Chern-Simons term for large N in the Weyl gauge
A bstractThree dimensional, U(N) symmetric, field theory with fermion matter coupled to a topological Chern-Simons term, in the large N limit is analyzed in details. We determine the conditions for
Saddle-point instability in models of chiral-symmetry breaking.
TLDR
It is confirmed in a specific model that all chiral-symmetry-breaking solutions correspond to saddle points of the effective-potential functional, which gives a completely consistent picture of the energetics of candidate vacuum states.
