The instabilities manifesting from the shock-separated boundary layer in shock tube reaction-kinetic experiments are examined using linear stability analysis. The shockseparated boundary layer is modeled using a polynomial profile with matching conditions across the shock, and the compressible Rayleigh equation is employed to determine the most hydrodynamically unstable wavelengths and growth rates.
