To clarify the function of the receptor binding protein for inositol hexakisphosphate (IP6), we obtained a partial amino acid sequence from the purified protein and a partial nucleotide sequence from a cDNA clone of the gene. The sequences are essentially identical to those of the alpha-subunit of the clathrin assembly protein AP-2.
