Mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and MAPK kinase (MAPKK) are activated during Xenopus oocyte maturation concomitant with the activation of maturation promoting factor (MPF). We reported previously that an anti-MAPKK neutralizing antibody inhibited progesterone- or Mos- induced initiation of oocyte maturation.
