Objective To explore the veracity of assessing stenotic mitral valve orifice area(MVA) by real-time three-dimensional echocardiography(RT-3DE). Methods Twenty inpatients with rheumatic mitral stenosis were studied, and the maximal MVA in diastole were respectively measured by three echocardiographic methods, namely, two dimensional echocardiography(2DE), Doppler and RT-3DE.
